Games
Come in. Pull up a chair.
Them days you sent a youngster up the road to say there was a game on. Now you send the code, and if a chair's still empty when you deal, one of the regulars takes it.

Got a place worth the drive?
Down the road
Well, Sunday after Mass we'd walk it. Start at the gate and go down, and every house along here I'll tell you who's in it.
Come From Away (musical)
gander
The Broadway musical the world fell for - about Gander, 38 parked planes, and 6,656 strangers who became neighbours on 9/11.
Come From Away, with book and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, tells the true story of 38 planes diverted to Gander, Newfoundland on 11 September 2001, adding 6,656 passengers and crew to a town of about 10,000. The writers spent a month in Gander at the tenth anniversary interviewing locals and 'plane people' while developing the show, which opened at California's La Jolla Playhouse in 2015, reached Broadway on 12 March 2017, earned seven Tony nominations and recouped its investment within roughly a year. It was the first Canadian-written show to win the Olivier Award for Best New Musical (2019), and benefit concert versions were staged in Gander itself at the Steele Community Centre.
How to get there
No road to a show. Gander is on the Trans-Canada, Route 1, and the airport and the aviation museum are in the town.

Where that comes from
On the go
Them days the garden party was the whole summer. Here's what's on the go now, and when.
The kitchen
Well, Sunday the pot was on before Mass and the smell of it met you at the gate. Here's what was in it, and how it's done.
The hall
Them days the hall had a dance Saturday and the kitchen had music the rest of the week. It's still playing. Come in and listen.
The yarns
He said, you know the one about the light on the water. I said, I do. That's a story, mind, and I'll tell you which parts.
Not the house
No, I said, that's not the house. It was down just below there. Go back up the road.
