A K-9 cop drama filmed on St. John's streets - the flagship of Newfoundland's present-day screen industry.
Hudson & Rex premiered on Citytv on 25 March 2019 as the network's number-one original scripted series, was renewed six episodes into its run, and has been produced by Shaftesbury with St. John's-based Pope Productions, sold to more than 100 territories. It is filmed in St. John's, employing roughly 190 Newfoundland-based crew in later seasons and shutting down whole streets - like Fleming Street in 2021 - for shoots. Halifax actor John Reardon stars as Det. Charlie Hudson; after a season away during cancer treatment and a fan campaign for his return, he came back for a ninth season scheduled to shoot in St. John's from June 2026.
