The quiet bay where Churchill and Roosevelt met in 1941 and signed the Atlantic Charter.
In August 1941 Churchill and Roosevelt met aboard warships in Placentia Bay off Ship Harbour and agreed the Atlantic Charter, the statement of war aims that fed into the founding of the United Nations. There is a monument at the site on Route 100, and almost nothing else, which is the right scale for it.
How to get there
On Route 100 between Placentia Junction and Placentia. The monument is signed from the road.
