Got a place worth the drive?
Down the road
Well, Sunday after Mass we'd walk it. Start at the gate and go down, and every house along here I'll tell you who's in it.
The Viking Trail (route 430)
The Viking Trail
The road from Deer Lake to the end of the world: Gros Morne to L'Anse aux Meadows.
The Viking Trail, provincial route 430, runs roughly 490 km from Deer Lake up the Great Northern Peninsula to St. Anthony and L'Anse aux Meadows, passing through Gros Morne National Park, the Tablelands, Port au Choix's archaeological sites, and the Strait of Belle Isle coast. Tourism NL promotes it as the island's signature northern road trip, layering 6,000 years of human history onto a single drive.
How to get there
Provincial Route 430: roughly 490 km from Deer Lake up the Great Northern Peninsula — Deer Lake to Rocky Harbour, a full day in Gros Morne, then Port au Choix and the Arches before L'Anse aux Meadows and St. Anthony.
